1999 (5th grade)
Student's comments: I have braces, so playing is harder this year, especially the high notes. I'm playing in Jazzy Band, but I was late for the first one, again. My favorite piece in the Central Tiger Band is Consensus. My teacher, Dan, went away, so I don't have lessons now, but I got pretty good practice from him.
My favorite piece in Jazzy Band would be Do Wah Diddy Diddy, 'cuz I hear it a lot on the radio, and I try and play along with it. Tiger Band is much easier this year. I think it's easier probably because I know a lot of the notes, and I could teach people how to play some notes, and that would make me really proud. I'm going to try out for All-County and NYSSMA this year. My Dad hasn't gotten the music yet for All-County yet.
Teacher's comments: Rachel is the only trombone player in Central School's Tiger Band. Rachel has been having difficulty this year due to her braces playing the high notes. Rachel also has lost a wonderful private trombone teacher, and hasn't been able to replace him. She worked on the WCSMA elementary All-County audition piece, however, did not get enough time to prepare the piece for auditions. Rachel is very excited that the 4th grade trombone students are joining the Tiger Band, and she can then help them in their performance.
