Multimedia Representations of Students Work Over TimeBackgroundThis site describes the digital portfolios Central Elementary School in Mamaroneck, NY have been working with for the past several years. I was a first grade teacher at Central School. Presently I am Teacher on Special Assignment as a Technology Facilitator in the elementary schools. Central School has been involved with Pat Carini, an educational consultant (for lack of a better term) from the Prospect Archive and Center for Education and Research, in Bennington, Vermont. She has helped us look at children's work over time. With her assistance we have practiced the Descriptive Review Process. This process may take on several variations (a descriptive review of a child, a work, a practice, an activity), although we have largely concentrated on a Descriptive Review of Children's Work, a protocol for looking at children's work. The Descriptive Review Process led to the creation of Central School's Child Study Center where we have archived collections of children's work and have used it to reflect on student's growth over time. The Child Study Center has provided a foundation for Central School's work with digital portfolios.
